It's deeply embedded in our human nature to mark the change of season from Autumn to Winter. The night's get darker, we need to put the heating on for longer, and we curl up indoors and imagine all the things that are going on outside in the dark. And we tell stories. Halloween's stories are about things that we are afraid of, they celebrate the dark, not the light, they normalise suffering and cruelty and negativity. Couldn't we do better than that and tell ourselves stories that celebrate goodness and hope and light instead? We can, and that's what our Light Party is about, away of celebrating positive things, the light and the goodness that Jesus brings.
