Archbishop Justin Welby Share a few Words with us
The Archbishop of Canterbury has been speaking about his hopes for the church when it begins to emerge from the pandemic. He believes there are three words that Christians could focus on. Simpler, Humbler and Bolder. After a year of having Chirch buildings closed opened and then closed again, +Justin recognised the work that has spilled out into the community through Foodbank's but also through the online services and prayers. He believes simple, bold and humble service can really introduce Christ to people in a powerful way.
+ welby feels inspired by clergy who have gone above and beyond during the pandemic. he also commented, We've gained internet skills and technological skills.Lets keep it up. Lets reach out to people.
In the summer +Welby will be taking a sabbatical. When asked how believers can be praying for him he said" I have a stock answer which is always, wisdom, courage, and patience. Wisdom to know what to do, courage to do it and patience to know when to do it. He then went on to say he would like to go a little bit further. Can you pray for myself, but particularly leaders in the world and our politicians for resilience? Golly some of them are looking tired. And the wight they bear is beyond our imaginations."
The Bishop of London will be taking the leading on his role while +Justin is away.
